Dr. Janet Maxwell commenced her career working across public sector acute mental health services and private General Practices in Melbourne. She then took a position as an Honorary Research Associate at the University of Manchester and Research Therapist with the National Health Service in England where she worked with leaders in the field of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy on a trial of a new intervention aimed at preventing suicide.
She has co-authored a book on the Prevention of Suicide in Psychosis, a manual on Coping with Hearing Voices and has presented research findings and skills workshops at a number of national and international conferences.
On returning to Melbourne, Janet recommenced work in private practice, providing psychological care to patients with a wide range of conditions, and liaising closely with GPs to ensure continuity of care. She is committed to providing high quality specialist care to residents of the local community.
Dr. Maxwell takes a client centered and collaborative approach, working together with clients to identify their needs and goals. She draws upon a number of approaches depending on the condition, suitability, and preferences of the client. These are, primarily, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Schema Therapy.
Janet works on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and provides services through Medicare, Department of Veterans’ Affairs, Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal, and NDIS.
Dr Lisa Forrester is the founder and Clinical Director of Diamond Valley Clinical Psychology and has been working privately in the Diamond Valley area for over 15 years.
